Destination Porsche recently opened at Porsche Centre Nottingham with sight, sound and smell at the heart of customer experience.
Officially opened by Krishan Bodhani, CEO Porsche Cars GB on Thursday 18 May, Porsche Centre Nottingham is only the second ‘Destination Porsche’ Centre under Porsche’s new Corporate Architecture concept in the UK, where the Porsche retail landscape evolves from a point of sale into a point of brand experience.
The launch event attended by over 600 customers and Porsche enthusiasts, included live performances from DJ Jamie Clossick and Girls That Mix – a selection of artists including a soloist, violinist, saxophonist and percussionist who played along the new racing line which guides customers through the Centre, with a distinct double-height glazed ceiling with large skylight that illuminates up to 12 new and pre-owned cars throughout the showroom.
Our two Direct Dialogue Bays, which are designed to allow a 1:1 walkaround of a customer car guided by a vehicle technician, were turned into live artist studios for the evening, with renowned Nottingham Street Artist ‘Dilks’ spraying a canvas, bonnet and a custom set of alloy wheels in one bay, and art students from Nottingham Trent University creating custom designs in the second bay. These one-off pieces were offered up as part of a silent auction that took place on the night to raise over £2,000 for Nottingham Children’s Hospital charity.
Our twelve workshop bays and MOT test facility, became home to a colourful rainbow of Porsche models through time – showcasing a mix of customer vehicles including everything from a 1958 356 to a 2023 GT3.
Our private customer handover lounges, designed for new car collections, housed a signable Porsche Taycan guestbook, where everyone at the event was invited to write well wishes to the new Centre on the car. Our second handover bay showcased a Porsche 963 Hypercar from motorsport team JOTA Sport. The car is the latest race car from Porsche and is taking part in the World Endurance Championship this year.
Inside Destination Porsche you are immersed into the brand experience. The space is characterised by an inviting and emotive atmosphere. In addition, the showroom ambience is further distinguished by a bespoke Porsche scent in the specification lounges and circulating through the building. The Porsche scent is designed to accompany the character of the sports cars by inspiring images of luxury, strength and adventure. To take this one step further, we offered all guests at our grand opening, a unique perfume-making experience, courtesy of London's Experimental Perfume Club.
Our expert associates include Showroom Hosts for welcoming visitors, and our Porsche Pro colleagues support the sales team in describing details of the various functions in the cars. On this night we also welcomed a close-up magician to interact with guests.
In a nod to the German origins of Porsche, separate ‘Porsche Platz’ and ‘Werk 1’ hospitality areas are located among the display cars - the names chosen to connect the Centre showroom to the spirit of the headquarters in Stuttgart. ‘Porsche Platz’ is the main address of the company, and ‘Werk 1’ is the name of the primary manufacturing plant.
Up in our mezzanine ‘Werk 1’ lounge, customers enjoyed a bespoke menu of different cocktails including the ‘Sherwood Forest’ served on a forest inspired board with smoke and pine scent. The Taycan BEV charged up for full effect.
Michael Mason, Centre Principal said:
“We are honoured to open the first purpose-built Destination Porsche showroom in the UK, which truly pushes the envelope of the regular car dealership experience."
“Our new showroom really is a destination where customers can fully immerse themselves into all things Porsche. The space is also available to enjoy coffee with friends, for hosting business meetings, and of course, we operate servicing, repairs and sales of new and used Porsche models.
“Our grand opening was a magnificent event, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone into the new showroom over the coming weeks, months and years. We look forward to seeing you back at Destination Porsche in Nottingham time and time again."
